About the College

The College of Health Sciences, University of Jos (UNIJOS) is a multidisciplinary centre of excellence for health professions education, biomedical and clinical research, innovation, and service. Located in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, the College brings together diverse health disciplines with a shared commitment to advancing knowledge, improving healthcare outcomes, and developing the next generation of healthcare leaders.

Established as a College in 2018, following the transformation of the former Faculty of Medical Sciences, the College comprises four faculties: Basic Medical Sciences, Basic Clinical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Health Sciences and Technology, and Dental Sciences.

At the heart of the College is a distinctive integration of education, research, clinical practice and community service—creating an environment where scientific discovery is translated into better patient care and where students are prepared not merely to enter the health professions, but to lead and transform them.

A Powerful Clinical Learning Environment

The College benefits from its close relationship with the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), a major tertiary healthcare, teaching and research institution in Nigeria.

Established in 1981 with a mandate encompassing tertiary and referral healthcare, medical education, training and research, JUTH provides an important platform for clinical education and specialist healthcare. Its broad range of clinical services, specialist expertise, laboratories and advanced facilities creates a rich environment for learning, research and professional development.

The clinical ecosystem also exposes learners to multidisciplinary healthcare teams and real-world challenges across medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, psychiatry, radiology, dentistry, nursing, laboratory medicine and other specialised fields.
