About the Faculty

The Faculty Health Sciences and Technology was established in 2018 with two Departments; Medical Laboratory Science and Nursing Sciences. Professor Eugene I. Ikeh was the pioneer Dean from 2018 to 2023. Professor James Garba Damen, mni became the second Dean of the Faculty in 2023. The two programmes have National Universities Commission accreditation and Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria for Medical Laboratory Science Programme and Nigeria Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria for Nursing Sciences programme. The Medical Laboratory Science and Nursing Science programmes have so far conducted 11th induction ceremonies of their graduands. The graduands have added value to the health workforce within and outside Nigeria. The Faculty Established two new Departments and programmes in 2025: Doctor of Physiotherapy and Bachelor of Radiography both Programmes has approval from the National Universities Commission.

The Faculty has the following four Departments and four Programmes: (1) Medical Laboratory Science - Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (B.M.L.S.), (2) Nursing Sciences - Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.N.Sc), (3) Physiotherapy - Doctor of Physiotherapy (D.PT) and (4) Radiography - Bachelor of Radiography (B. Rad.)

The Departments of Medical Laboratory Science and Nursing Sciences has introduced the following postgraduate programmes: Postgraduate Diploma, Masters of Science (M.Sc.) degree and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in various aspect of Medical Laboratory Science and Nursing Sciences in 2018/2019 academic session. These include:

  1. PGD/M.Sc./Ph.D. in Chemical Pathology, Haematology and Blood Transfusion Science, Medical Microbiology, Histopathology and Cytology and Immunology and immunochemistry,
  2. M.Sc. in Medical and Surgical Nursing, Mental/Psychiatric Health Nursing,  Community Health Nursing, Maternal and Child Health Nursing, Nursing Education and Health and Nursing Administration and
  3. M.Phil./Ph.D. in Public Community Health Nursing, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Maternal and Child Health Nursing, Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing, Nursing Administration and Nursing Education
