ABUJA – The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, has reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to using sports as a tool for national development, youth empowerment, and job creation.
Speaking on plans for the 2025 Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA), Dikko described the event as a landmark initiative to discover and nurture young talents from grassroots communities across Nigeria.

Jos, Nigeria - The University of Jos, host of the 27th Nigeria University Games Association (NUGA) Games, has officially unveiled 'Indi' the Jos Indigo, the vibrant and energetic mascot that will serve as the face and spirit of NUGA UNIJOS 2025.
The Chancellor of the University of Jos and Emir of Zazzau, His Highness, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli CFR, has expressed strong confidence in the quality of graduates produced by the University of Jos over the years, describing them as well-grounded and contributing meaningfully to national and global development.
With preparations in full swing for the 27th Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) slated for November 5–16, 2025, the University of Jos (UNIJOS) has reaffirmed its commitment to hosting a world-class event that will not only celebrate athletic excellence but also leave a lasting legacy for sports development in Nigeria and beyond.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos, Professor Tanko Ishaya, has praised the ongoing discussions between the University and the United States Livestock Genetics Export Incorporated (USLGE), describing the initiative as a major step toward strengthening food security, advancing livestock production, and promoting agricultural research and innovation in Nigeria.
