Set 1992 of Architecture Donates N5 Million Worth of Equipment to UniJos

The Architecture Set 1992 Alumni of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) has donated 50 drawing boards and 50 stools, valued at N5 million, to the Department of Architecture. The donation was made as a gesture of appreciation for the knowledge, training and professional foundation provided by the University, which has contributed significantly to shaping members of the set into professionals in their various fields.

The donation also demonstrates the set's commitment to giving back to their alma mater and supporting the academic development of current students.

The equipment was formally presented on behalf of the set by Arc. Pam John Bot of the Directorate of Physical Facilities, who is an alumnus of the 1992 set. Other members of the set present at the occasion were Arc. Yilji Gomwalk, Arc. Levi Ladan Ibrahim and Arc. Dauda Mohammed.

The event was attended by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Tanko Ishaya, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Joshua P. Chollom; the Registrar, Dr Rejoice J. Songden; the Bursar, Mrs Victoria Mankilik; the Dean, Faculty of Architectural Sciences, Prof. Yohanna Chanle Sati; the Head of the Department of Architecture, Dr Sani Adamu; the Director, Directorate of Alumni Relations, Mr Naandye Dabugat; members of staff of the Department; and other members of the University community.

The Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Sati, welcomed everyone to the newly established Faculty. He noted that the donation would contribute to meeting the Faculty's accreditation requirements and further strengthen the University's academic facilities.

Speaking on the significance of the donation, the Head of the Department, Dr Sani Adamu, expressed appreciation to Architecture Set 1992 and the wider alumni community for their continued support to the Department. He acknowledged the importance of such contributions in improving the learning environment and providing students with the facilities required for effective practical training.

The Director, Directorate of Alumni Relations, Mr Dabugat, also appreciated the set for its meaningful support to the University and for its continued commitment to the growth and development of the institution. He further encouraged alumni to consider leaving a lasting legacy at the University.

The Vice-Chancellor, who received and commissioned the equipment on behalf of the University, encouraged other Josites and alumni sets to emulate the spirit of giving back. He noted that collective contributions from alumni can play a significant role in improving facilities and making the University of Jos a better place for teaching and learning. He also urged the Department to ensure that the equipment is properly utilised and maintained.

The donation by Architecture Set 1992 is therefore not only an investment in the present generation of Architecture students but also a reflection of the enduring values of gratitude, service and commitment to the continued development of the newly established Faculty of Architectural Sciences and the University as a whole.
