GOC 3RD  DIVISION MAXWELL KHORBE CANTONMENT VISITS THE UNIVERSITY OF JOS , ASSURES OF ADEQUATE SECURITY FOR THE UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY

Today Tuesday 7 April 2026, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) the 3rd Division Maxwell Khorbe Cantonment, Major General EF Oyinlola visited the University of Jos this afternoon. According to him, the visit was a confidence-building visit to assure the Vice Chancellor of the Division's high priority of securing the University in the face of threats to the lives of its community. In the company of a battalion of soldiers, the GOC said, his unscheduled visit was to also inform the Vice Chancellor of the deployment of additional troops within the University and along roads leading to the University.
Receiving the GOC, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Tanko Ishaya expressed profound gratitude for the visit. He stated that the University, has over the years been adversely affected by effects of crisis which hampers the smooth execution of its calendar. He stated that, as stated in the last Press release, normal activities on campus resumed today, and examinations will continue on Monday 13th April 2026. 
The SUG President comrade Younglan Taylon, who was present during the visit also had a heart to heart discussion with the GOC and VC and expressed the fears of students about their safety on campus. The GOC assured him that the campus is safe, and urged him to pass the message to all students of the University to return as soon as possible to prepare for Examinations.
