Saturday 3rd December 2025 will remain a memorable day in the lives of retired and serving staff of the Directorate of Students Affairs. In what turned out to be an afternoon of mixed feelings, the Directorate organized a Send-off party for 5 of its retired staff, and honoured some deserving Staff still in service. The event which was graced by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tanko Ishaya (FBCS, FNCS), Director Institute of Education, Deputy Deans of the Directorate, Ag Chief Security Officer, Deputy Registrar Information and Publications and other invited dignitaries took place at the Students Garden, Bauchi Road campus. In his opening remarks, the Dean of the Directorate, Prof. Chris Piwuna stated that the sheer commitment and sacrificial attitude of the Directorate’s staff was enough motivation to celebrate them. In an emotion-laden voice, he described how loyal, and committed the staff have been, sometimes working beyond the prescribed hours and under very challenging circumstances just to ensure that the system works. In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated the retirees for surviving years of unceasing service to the system, and charged them to see retirement as a privilege to start life again. He advised them to enjoy life, enjoy family and friends. He stated that a major thrust of his administration is the welfare of retiring staff of the University, especially payments of their entitlements. He expressed joy with the initiative of the Directorate in celebrating retired staff members, and immediately directed the constitution of a Committee to organize in the first quarter of 2026 a similar event for the University. The Committee which is to be chaired by the Dean Students Affairs includes Dr. Rosemary Anga (Deputy Dean Students Affairs), Emmanuel Madugu (DR Information and Publications, and Longul Dakwom as members.
