Professor Fabian Puepet, BM.BCH, FMCP, FACE, FRCP (London) is a Professor of Medicine & Endocrinology and Consultant Physician/Endocrinologist at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, University of Jos, Nigeria.
Professor Fabian Puepet is a distinguished physician, endocrinologist, and academic leader specializing in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. He earned his BM.BCH from the University of Jos in 1984, Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in 1996, Fellowship of the American College of Endocrinology in 2010, and Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (London) in 2023.
He began his academic career at the University of Jos in 1997 as Lecturer I, following postgraduate residency training at Jos University Teaching Hospital, and rose to the rank of Professor in 2010. He has served as Head of the Department of Medicine and continues to play a pivotal role in medical education, postgraduate training, and research.
Professor Puepet is a member of the National Working Group on Diabetes in Nigeria and was the sole physician on the WHO Expert Committee for the development of core sets for hand disabilities associated with chronic diseases (Notwill, Switzerland, 2009). He has been an examiner at the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria since 2003 and has trained 38 endocrinologists to fellowship level, with many more currently under his supervision.
His research interests span all aspects of endocrinology and metabolism, with particular focus on diabetes, dyslipidaemia, and obesity. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and serves as a reviewer for several medical journals. Professor Puepet is a Fellow of the Endocrine and Metabolism Society of Nigeria and a member of the American Association of Endocrinology and the American Diabetes Association.
