The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the establishment of eighteen (18) new Full-Time Academic programmes in the University of Jos, set to commence in the 2025/2026 Academic Session. The approval follows a comprehensive Resource Verification visit conducted by the NUC, in which the Commission assessed the human and material resources available at the University for the successful establishment of these programmes. This evaluation ensures that the University of Jos is well-equipped to provide quality education in these new fields.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos, Professor Tanko Ishaya, received the formal approval letter from the NUC Executive Secretary, undersigned by Abubakar M. Girei, the Commission's Director of Academic Planning.

The new Academic programmes encompass a diverse range of disciplines, including B.Sc. Data Science, B.Sc. Cyber Security, B.Sc. Software Engineering, B.Sc. Information Systems and B.Sc. The NUC encouraged the University to uphold the quality of these programmes by ensuring the continuous provision of adequate human and material resources, and maintaining their approved titles and nomenclature.

This approval represents a milestone in the University’s commitment to excellence, and preparing Students to meet the challenges of contemporary times with much-needed skills and knowledge.
