Barnabas John Kwaha was born on 4th February 1968 in Michika, Adamawa State and had his early education at Kaiama, Kwara State and Ganye in Adamawa State. He studied Science Education at the College of Education, Jalingo, graduating as the second overall best student 1988. He later proceeded to the University of Maiduguri to study Physics, graduating at the top his class and winning the prestigious Engr. Mahmud’s Prize in 1995. He later obtained MSc. Degree in Applied Physics (Electronics & Communications) from the University of Jos in 1999 and the PhD degree in the same area of specialization in 2007. Kwaha’s work on the development of digital filtering techniques adaptable to CW Radar systems has been widely read and acknowledged and has led to the publication of many articles in reputable local and international journals.
Professor Kwaha is a certified professional Installer, Designer, and Consultant in On-Grid and Off-Grid Solar PV Systems/Inverter Backup Systems and currently the Head of Renewable Energy Unit of the UNIJOS-CARNEGIE Partnership. In conjunction with AMALGA Power Tech, he and his research team have invented locally made 5W, 10W and 15W LED dc bulbs usable directly on solar power backup systems.
Professor Kwaha is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Physics (FNIP) and the past Editor-in-Chief of the prestigious Nigerian Journal of Physics (NJP). He is also a member of the Renewable and Alternative Energy Society of Nigeria (RAESON).
Professor Kwaha is an erudite scholar - a Visiting Professor and External Examiner to several Universities and Polytechnics in Nigeria, a Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation and resource verification team member that assess universities standard in view of maintaining academic quality.
