NUGA TEAM HAPPY WITH PROGRESS OF WORK ON FACILITIES FOR UNIJOS 25

Officials of the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) have expressed satisfaction with the level of preparations for the 27th edition of the games, which will be held at the University of Jos from November 6 to 18, 2025.

Speaking during an inspection of facilities under construction for the games, NUGA’s Chairman (Technical) Prof. Garba Yakasai said the facilities were about 90 per cent ready, expressing satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the facilities.

Accompanied by the association’s Secretary, Mr. Yunusa Bazza, he was optimistic that the facilities would be ready for the games.

Yakasai, who was taken round the facilities by the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Tanko Ishaya, commended the quality of work at the indoor sports hall, describing it as one of its kind in any university in Nigeria.

“We are very impressed by the quality of work; it is very solid and it will last a long time”, he said.

The Vice Chancellor who is the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee explained that the university is providing world-class facilities for the games in her desire to make NUGA25 the best organised in history.

According to him, “we desire to make NUGA 2025 go down in history, not just in terms of organization, but also for the long-term benefits for sports, the economy and tourism development in the country.”

Other members of the LOC who conducted the team round include a former Director General of the National Sports Commission, HRH Alhassan Yakmut, Chairman of Sports Unijos, Prof. Ishaya Pam.

Over 10,000 athletes and officials are expected to participate in the game, which was last held in 2021, hosted by the University of Lagos.
