Academic Background
Prof. Danny Keith McCain earned his Ph.D. in New Testament Interpretation from Bob Jones University, Greenville, USA, following earlier degrees in Theology and Biblical Education from Columbia International University and Hobe Sound Bible College. His doctoral dissertation, The Spirit of Man in the New Testament, reflects his lifelong commitment to advancing biblical scholarship.
Professional Experience
Prof. McCain has served at the University of Jos since 1991, rising to the rank of Professor of Biblical Theology in 2004. He has supervised over 40 postgraduate students, including Ph.D., M.A., and D.Min candidates, and examined numerous doctoral and master’s theses across Africa and internationally. He has also held visiting and adjunct professorships in institutions such as Columbia International University (USA), West Africa Theological Seminary (Lagos), and Evangel Seminary (Jos).
He is currently the Director of the Centre for Conflict Management and Peace Studies, University of Jos, and has led major initiatives including the UNIJOS Ancient Manuscript Research Project and the Nigeria Pentecostal and Charismatic Research Centre.
Research & Publications
Prof. McCain’s research spans biblical theology, hermeneutics, Christian education, peacebuilding, and HIV/AIDS awareness. He has authored 22 books, 10 book chapters, 12 training manuals, and over 25 peer-reviewed articles, with works published by Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, William Carey Publishing, and Africa Christian Textbooks (ACTS). His scholarship has influenced both academic discourse and practical ministry across Africa.
Leadership & Global Engagement
Beyond academia, Prof. McCain is the Founder and International Ambassador of Global Scholars, an organization that has supported over 650 academics in 68 countries to strengthen Christian studies in public universities. He has served on numerous boards, including Africa Christian Textbooks (ACTS), which has published over 120 theological works, and faith-based initiatives addressing HIV/AIDS, stigma reduction, and peacebuilding.
He has been a Senior Research Fellow, consultant, and editor for international journals and organizations, and continues to play a pivotal role in shaping Christian scholarship and interfaith dialogue globally.
