Prof. Yohana Chanle Sati
Professor of Architecture | Dean, Faculty of Architecture

Professor Yohana Chanle Sati is a Professor of Architecture and Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Jos, Nigeria. He is a distinguished academic, researcher, professional architect, and higher education administrator with over two decades of experience in architectural education, professional practice, research, and university leadership.

Professor Sati obtained a National Diploma in Architectural Technology from the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, graduating as the Overall Best Architectural Technology Student in the 1988/1989 academic session. He subsequently earned his B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. degrees in Architecture from the University of Jos and later obtained a Ph.D. in Architecture from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Before joining academia, he gained professional experience as a Resident Architect and Project Architect with reputable consulting firms in Abuja. Since joining the Department of Architecture, University of Jos, in 2002 as Lecturer II, he has progressed through the academic ranks and became a Professor of Architecture in 2018. He has also served as Visiting Professor and Sabbatical Professor at several Nigerian universities.

His research interests include urban environmental planning and design, green architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, heritage conservation, sustainable built environments, and environmental sustainability. He has published extensively in national and international scholarly journals and has supervised numerous undergraduate, master's, and doctoral research projects.

Professor Sati has held several leadership positions within the University of Jos, including Head of the Department of Architecture (2016–2021), Member of Senate, and currently Dean of the Faculty of Architecture. He has contributed significantly to academic quality assurance, curriculum development, accreditation, and postgraduate education.

A Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (FNIA) and a Registered Architect, Professor Sati serves as a Council Member of the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) and is the Executive Secretary of the Joint Board of Architectural Education of Nigeria (JBAE). He has also served on numerous accreditation panels of the National Universities Commission (NUC) and as an external examiner and assessor for universities across Nigeria.

Through his scholarship, professional practice, institutional leadership, and community service, Professor Sati has made significant contributions to architecture, architectural education, and the sustainable development of the built environment in Nigeria.
