A distinguished academic who lives an exemplary leadership lifestyle, Professor Onwochei joined the services of the University of Jos in 1994 as an Assistant Lecturer and rose through the academic ranks to attain the position of Reader in 2007 and Professor in 2021.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Pic Charles Onwochei, is a Professor of Religion and Philosophy with specialization and experience in Ethics and Philosophy. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1990 at University of Jos and then proceeded to NYSC in Katsina state, subsequently enrolled for a Masters Degree in Religion and Philosophy with specialization in Ethics and Philosophy which he successfully completed in 1993. Professor Onwochei acquired his Ph.D. in Ethics and Philosophy also from the University of Jos in 2007.
Professor Onwochei has held several academic and administrative positions including Representative of the Faculty of Arts in several Boards in the University; Two-time Head of Department of Religion and Philosophy; Chairman, Committee of Proposal for Online Postgraduate Learning/Degree Acquisition, Chairman, Committee of Establishment of A Center of Excellence in Music Research, University of Jos, Orator, UNIJOS 27th/28th Combined Convocation Ceremony and 40th Anniversary Celebration, Chairman, Adhoc Committee of Investigation of Suspected Case of Forgery of Signature, Member Library Board of the University of Jos, a Two-time Director, Non-NUC Funded Programmes, a position he occupied until his elevation as the DVC (Administration).
A member of several Professional Bodies and Associations including the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). Professor Onwochei is a seasoned music lover and Gospel promoter with over Thirty-One (31) years of Academic and Professional experience in addition to numerous community services he is rendering.
Professor Onwochei’s research interests are diverse and wide ranging from moral ethics to the musical and education development in Nigeria among others.
He has contributed to many Journal, Book Chapters, Conferences, Monographs, Case Reviews and Research Report publications and has contributed to the successful execution of a number of national and internationally funded projects.
The Processor of Ethics and Philosophy is widely travelled.
He hails from Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State and is happily married to Dr. Modupe Onwochei.
