Prof. Augustine Odo Ebonyi
Professor of Paediatric Infectious Diseases | Consultant Paediatrician

Professor Augustine Odo Ebonyi, MBBS, FWACP, DTM&H, M.Sc., Ph.D., is a Professor of Paediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Jos and Honorary Consultant Paediatrician at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, Jos, Nigeria.

Professor Ebonyi obtained his MBBS from Ahmadu Bello University in 1989, Fellowship of the West African College of Physicians (Paediatrics) in 2006, Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (DTM&H) from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2009, M.Sc. in Epidemiology from the University of London in 2012, and Ph.D. in Public Health from Universidad Central de Nicaragua in 2026, with his doctoral thesis focusing on the spatial patterns of tuberculosis in Jos Metropolis.

Professor Ebonyi is a Nigerian Breweries Scholar, Commonwealth Scholar, and FEMTO Trust Scholar. His research focuses on paediatric infectious diseases, particularly tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and malaria, with special emphasis on TB prevention strategies, geospatial analysis, and the epidemiology of infectious diseases. He has authored more than 65 peer-reviewed publications and has received multiple research grants in these areas.

He has collaborated with leading institutions including the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Imperial College London, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and New York University, contributing to global research efforts in infectious disease epidemiology.
