Profile: Taye Cosmas Obateru is a professor in journalism, media and cultural studies. He obtained a diploma from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism Lagos as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts and a Master’s degree in Law and Diplomacy from the University of Jos. He also has a Master’s in International Journalism from Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland and a Ph.D in Media and Cultural Studies from the University of Salford, Manchester, United Kingdom. He has served as an editorial/training consultant to GTZ in Nigeria and the National Centre for Remote Sensing in Jos. He was the pioneer Staff Editor of UniJos EchoOnline, an online training newspaper for students. He was a member of the Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State. His research interests cover media and journalism studies, mass media law and ethics and political communication.
