Eric Martyns has over a decade of distinguished experience as an academic staff member of the University of Jos, where he has served in various leadership capacities including heading the Institutional Repository Unit and serving as Subject Librarian for the faculties of Computing Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, College of Basic Medical Sciences, and Faculty of Health Sciences and Technology
He serves also in the Library and Information Science Unit where he teaches both undergraduate and part-time courses. He is currently pursuing his PhD at the University of Jos in Library and Information Science, further advancing his scholarly pursuits.
His educational credentials include a BSc in Microbiology from the University of Jos, a Master's degree in Library & Information Science, a postgraduate diploma in Management from the Institute of Commercial Management (UK), a Mini-MBA from Tekedia Institute in Boston, USA and multiple certifications in artificial intelligence and generative AI, reflecting his multidisciplinary approach to knowledge acquisition.
He is an alumnus of the prestigious National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru Jos, where he completed the Policy, Strategy and Leadership Course. His connection with NIPSS extends beyond his alumni status; he currently serves as a faculty member at the institute for two programs, the Youth Leadership Development Course (YLDC) and Strategic Course for Command Responsibilities (SCCR) where he lectures participants drawn from MDA, private sector, military and paramilitary on artificial intelligence and the future of work, intelligence gathering and management.
