The Documents and Special Collections unit domiciled in the Library at the second floor in the building.
The section was created in 1978 and holds rare government publications and other valuable special collections like international intergovernmental organizations, the University of Jos archives, theses and dissertations of the University and resources often distinguished from the general library collection.
The Unit collects, preserves, and makes available primary sources of a rare, unique, or specialized nature to support advanced study and research. The unit is a closed collection section; the shelves are a restricted access area to protect the materials and no material may be borrowed or leave the Documents and Special Collections Unit.
The Unit is open to University staff, students, and other researchers and to members of the public, for research purposes and visits.
