Entry Requirements for M.phil/ PhD in Geography Education:

A good Masters degree in Geography Education, with a minimum weighted score average (WSA) of 60%, plus five credits in relevant O level subjects, including Mathematics, English and Geography.:

Entry Requirements for MPhil/Ph.D Computer Science Education:

Candidates who possess a Masters or Higher degree in any area of Computer Science Education/Technology Education from the University of Jos or other approved universities may be admitted into the Master of Philosophy/Doctor of Philosophy Programme provided that they obtained a minimum GPA of 3.50 on a 5-point scale or 3.00 on a 4-point scale and that a satisfactory research work formed part of the Master’s degree.

Entry Requirements into MPhil/Ph.D Technology Education:

Candidates who possess a Masters or Higher degree in any area of Technology Education from the University of Jos or other approved universities may be admitted into the Master of Philosophy/Doctor of Philosophy Programme provided that they obtained a minimum GPA of 3.50 on a 5-point scale or 3.00 on a 4-point scale and that a satisfactory research work formed part of the Master’s degree.


Note: Candidates who hold other qualifications may be admitted into the Doctor of Philosophy programme if their detailed academic records are satisfactory to the Senate of the University.<

General Entry Requirements:

The candidate must possess a good Honours Degree in Education. An M.Ed. candidate with a first Degree other than B.A (Ed.), B.Sc. (Ed.) or B.Ed. must possess a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) or evidence both of high attainment in the proposed area of study for the Masters of Education Degree and also of breath of study shown to the satisfaction of the Faculty by such things as existing qualifications, publications etc.

At least two years teaching experience judged appropriate for the Faculty of Education or at least three years’ experience in Education other than as a teacher, judged appropriate for this purpose by the Faculty. A candidate with a second class upper or above is exempted from this provision. Candidates with B.Sc (Ed) or B.Ed Degrees awarded by the University of Jos or any approved University may be qualified for admission to read M.Ed (Curriculum) and M.Sc (Ed) Educational Technology.

Admission Requirements for Computer Science Education:

The criteria for admission into the M.Sc.Ed programme will be as follows:

        1. All candidates must have five credit passes including English, Mathematics and two other relevant science subjects at ‘O’ Level.
        2. Candidates with Bachelor’s degrees from an approved university must obtain a minimum of second class lower division with a CGPA of 3.0/5.0 in Computer Science or Computer Science Education or Related Courses for an academic programme.
        3. Candidates with at least a third class degree or HND and University PGD with CGPA of 3.0/5.0 in Computer science or Computer Science Education may be considered for admission into academic Master’s degree programme.
        4. These requirements are reviewed from time to time in accordance with the University's postgraduate framework.

Entry Requirements into Master of Science in Technology Education (M.Sc Ed):

The following categories of candidates may be admitted on application:

        1. Graduates of the University of Jos or of other approved universities who have obtained at least a second-class honours degree or its equivalent in:
          1. Building/Woodwork Technology
          2. Electrical/Electronic Technology
          3. Metalwork/Automobile Technology
        • Holders of the Higher National Diploma who have, in addition, obtained a Post- Graduate Diploma in Technology Education at credit level or above.
        • Other graduates of the University of Jos, or of other recognized universities whose detailed academic records are considered satisfactory by the Senate of the University of Jos.
      • Postgraduate Diploma Programmes:
        1. Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science Education (PGDCSE)
        2. Postgraduate Diploma in Technology Education (PGDTE)

Admission requirements for Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science Education (PGDCSE) :

The Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science Education is open to the following categories of candidates provided the UTME requirement of 5 Credits at O’Level (including English and Mathematics) in relevant subjects is met.

        1. Graduates of Computer Science and Information Technology of any recognized University with a minimum of a Third Class Degree.
        2. Graduates of any field of studies other than Computer Science Education or Information Technology of any recognized University with a minimum of a third class degree.
        3. HND holders of Computer Science Education or Information Technology or any other closely related field of any recognized University or Polytechnic with a minimum of Upper Credit.
        4. HND holders of Computer Science, Information Technology of any recognized University or Polytechnic with a lower credit and at least three years post qualification experience in the use of IT and related information systems.
