 UNIJOS HOSTS NIGERIAN UNIVERSITY CHAPLAINS

The University of Jos on April 17th, 2012 hosted Chaplains of Nigerian Universities as they converged for their 14th annual National Conference under the umbrella of the Association of Nigeria University Chaplains (ANUC) at the Unijos Chapel of Faith.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. Hayward Mafuyai expressed excitement that the University was hosting the Conference more than a decade after the Association was established here in Jos. He encouraged the Participants by quoting from the book of Proverbs 18:10, saying confidence and safety is found in God alone, just as the safety of the environment is the Lord’s doing.
In line with the theme of the conference which is ‘Excellence in Life and Ministry’, Prof. Mafuyai stressed the need for all God’s children to seek to achieve excellence & serve like they are serving Christ as by so doing, the power and glory of God would be manifested.
President of ANUC, Rev. Azuka of the University of Lagos advised the participants to be sensitive so as not to miss the help of God and live their lives struggling.
Chairman, Local Organising Committee of the conference, Prof. T.O. Oyetunde while welcoming the Guests and Participants, expressed appreciation to all who contributed in giving the Conference a professional and spiritual outlook. Speaking on the topic ‘How intentional are we in preparing future leaders who will take over from us?’ Professor Oyetunde explained that he considered the Conference as a deliberate step towards developing leadership skills in the younger generation.
Chairman Board of Elders of the Chapel of Faith of which the Vice-Chancellor is a member, Dr Isaac Lar, prayed that synergy will be developed to help channel the mental, moral, spiritual, physical energies & material resources of Members of the various Campus Chaplaincies, especially the young men & women, towards national transformation.
