Receiving the cheque on behalf of Management, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Sonni Tyoden noted that UniJos Jos NASU was the first union to contribute to the Endowment Fund and expressed hope that the understanding that generated the gesture will continue to prevail.
While presenting the cheque, the Chairman of NASU UniJos Chapter, Clement Yamu said the gesture was borne out of the desire by members of the Union to contribute to the development of the Institution.
He said the University of Jos belongs to the Staff, and Students and so there was the need for them to show more concern about the development of the Institution. This, he said would complement Government and Management’s effort at developing the University. He said it would show those outside the University community that they were concerned about its development.
Comrade Clement Yamu who said the donation was collected at one instance from the Union’s members urged other Unions within the University to also join hands in the quest to lift University of Jos to a place of honour among other Universities. |
