Minimum age of 16 years on 1st October of year of admission. General requirements for entry to 1st year of 4/5 year degree course is the School Certificate or General Certificate of Education (GCE) or (SSCE) with credits in at least 5 O'Level subjects obtained at not more than two sittings or the Teachers Grade II certificate with credits/merits in 5 subjects at not more than two sittings (subject to University requirements).
General requirements for entry to one-year remedial/pre-degree course (science only), minimum of 3 maximum of 4 Ordinary Level credits in the sciences including Agriculture Science which must include at least a pass in English and Mathematics. Remedial courses are restricted to students from catchment areas. Direct entry requirement to a ¾ year programme leading to honours degree is 'A' Level passes with SSCE/GCE Ordinary Level credit passes in the required subjects at not more than two sittings. Nigerian Certificate for Education (NCE) candidates are required to posses passes in two major subjects and three 'O' Level credit passes in the relevant subjects.
Additional requirements for entry level ( see JAMB 'brochure') Application is through the Joint Adminssion and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Closing dates: although determined by JAMB, is usually April for the 4/5 year programmes and May/June for the Direct entry. The officer in-charge of Academic matters in the University of Jos, is the Deputy Registrar (Academic Affairs).
