LINKAGES AND
RESEARCH
The University of Jos believes that one of
the viable means of rating the public image
of a university is its success in fostering
global inter-university research collaborations
and linkages.
The linkages between the University of Jos
and its various partners have been quite successful,
thus enhancing its philosophy and objective
of “innovativeness and practical education
for humble service to humanity as well as the
advancement of knowledge through high level
research and teaching in the search for the
truth”. The university is pursuing this
through capacity building, staff training and
exchange as well as facilitating access to up-to-date
library, laboratory and computer facilities,
in addition to providing valuable research resources,
especially experience and expertise in sourcing
for research funds.
COMMENTS
FROM OUR PARTNERS ON THE UNIVERSITY OF JOS ADVANCEMENT
OFFICE The University of Jos
stands out in its commitment to and investment
in building its capacity to raise both friends
and funds. Wise investment of a portion of its
grant from Carnegie Corporation has resulted
in the establishment of the Advancement Office,
complete with a full complement of dedicated,
energetic, trained staff. Credit for this development
goes to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Monday
Mangvwat, for his vision of a revitalized University
and the Jos – Carnegie Partnership Committee.
Andrea Johnson
Program Officer
Carnegie Corporation of New
York.
This is an important innovation, which will
ensure that the institution has the resources
to compete in the market, maintain and develop
the quality of its teaching and research.
In setting up the Advancement Unit, the University
has taken great care to implement best practice
in its structure and business processes, ensuring
that its staff are adequately trained and that
the Unit is appropriately resourced. We have
been pleased to work with the University of
Jos in building its Advancement Office. We have
every confidence that it will play a key role
in building the funding base of the institution.
