MISSION

The mission of the Advancement Office is to enhance the image of the University, build strong relationships and professionalize our approach to ensuring the sustainable development of the institution.

GOALS

The Advancement Office aims to build the University’s capacity through:

Managing a professional fundraising apparatus including donor-prospect research, proposal development, donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.

Managing the communications and marketing needs with special emphasis on building the image and profile of the University to service the work of Development and Fundraising, Alumni Relations and Public Affairs.

Managing the alignment of development priorities with the strategic goals of the University.

GIVING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF JOS

The University of Jos Advancement Office is a bold attempt at recreating and empowering the institution to identify and seek funding from different donors, thus making the Federal Government a major, rather than a sole funding agent. The Advancement Office will raise funds that will cover capital projects, reinvigorate research, endow chairs in areas of excellence and provide scholarships to different categories of students in the University. This will put the University on a right footing to compete and excel internationally.

Alumni, parents and friends can give to the University of Jos in a variety of ways. Options include cash, cheques, bank drafts and other assets.

Giving is not limited to financial investment. An investment of your time by serving in an advisory or volunteer capacity to the Advancement Office or any faculty of your choice is very welcome.

GIFTS OF CASH

A majority of gifts made to the University of Jos come in the form of cash via cheques or bank transfers.

Cheques should be made payable to “University of Jos Advancement Office” and mailed to:

ADVISORY AND MENTORSHIP CAPACITY BUILDING

Alumni and friends of the University of Jos can become involved as fundraising volunteers of University Advancement or become involved in faculty advisory groups (see individual faculties for details) and active members of the Alumni Association, which has branches in all the major cities in Nigeria as well as abroad. Advancement Volunteers, Alumni Associations and Faculty Advisory groups can make valuable contributions to the academic direction of the University.

STEWARDSHIP

The University of Jos believes in the active recognition of donor partnerships and commitment. All donations are recognised for the benefits they offer to the future development of the University and its students. Recognition may take the form of a letter of acknowledgement and thanks or even an event hosted by senior members of the University, symbolizing the pride and commitment we have towards our partners.
